Legendary musician David Bowie has departed at the age of 69 after enduring a harsh battle with cancer for 18 months. David Bowie is a pioneer in modern music and celebrities like U2, Lady Gaga , Lorde have reported his influence on their music He is a reputed song writer, actor, fashion icon and has been heavily followed by an enormous loyal fan base. His mesmerizing impact can be observed in punk, new wave, alternative and hard rock music. A statement was released on behalf of his family which said “While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
The legend was born with the name “David Robert Jones” in London. Later he approached the stage name “David Bowie” in an attempt to own individuality and uniqueness. His first music album was released in 1967. However, David welcomed enthralling success with the release of his “The man who sold the world” album. Songs like “Hunky Dory” “Changes”/ “Andy Warhol” and “Life on Mars” became instant hits. Moreover David’s impeachable style and fluid sexuality aroused sensuality in both men and women.
He is respected as one of the first celebrity who has supported homosexuality openly and promoted equal rights of transgender in society. Because of his contribution, David Bowie is honored, valued and beloved in the homosexual and transgender community. David Bowie also had an alter ego named “Ziggy Stardust”. David Bowie had a tremulous and evolving personal life .His first marriage with Angela Barnett didn’t lasted long and they divorced with a son named Zowie Bowie. From his second marriage with Somalian super model Iman, he has a daughter named Alexandria Zahra Jones.
David Bowie suffered a heart attack in 2004 in the middle of a tour. David was honored with Grammy Lifetime achievement awards in 2006. His last and final album “Black star” was released on his 69th birthday, Jan 8, 2016.
