Scientists discovered hundreds of galaxies veiled behind Milk way

Astronomers revealed a surprising fact that our beautiful galaxy Milk way is indeed compromising our view of the majestic Universe. Astronomers have found a galactic zoo of galaxies in an uninvestigated region of space. Astronomers used the Australia based Parkes radio telescope to spot down five hundreds of undetected galaxies. Lister Staveley-Smith from The University of Western Australia and International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) explained that although Milky Way is strikingly beautiful and intriguing to study but it also blocks out the view of the more distant galaxies behind Milk way.

Staveley-Smith’s team is now investigating the alluring “Great Attractor”, part of space that is pulling local galaxies with an incredible gravitational force. This force is so intense that the force equivalences million billions sun. Professor Staveley-Smith said that scientists have been trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious Great Attractor since major deviations from universal expansion were first discovered in the 1970s and 1980s.”We don’t actually understand what’s causing this gravitational acceleration on the Milky Way or where it’s coming from,” Professor Staveley said in the press release. He further added “We know that in this region there are a few very large collections of galaxies we call clusters or super clusters, and our whole Milky Way is moving towards them at more than two million kilometers per hour.”

A number of galaxies are located at the alluring zone of space. According to astronomers, around 883 galaxies have been identified with in a short reach of 250 million light years from earth. These galaxies were clustered at the zone of avoidance where telescopes are inaccessible. “An average galaxy contains 100 billion stars, so finding hundreds of new galaxies hidden behind the Milky Way points to a lot of mass we didn’t know about until now.” Staveley Smith’s team announced.

Finally it became possible to venture the unidentified region of the space with the help of innovative technologies on the Parkes Radio telescope .With the 21-cm multibeam receiver on Parkes, scientists were finally able to map the space 13times faster than they could do it earlier. Researchers from Australia, South Africa, US and Netherlands conglomerated in this joint venture scientific approach. The research also identified several new structure including three galaxy concentration NW1, NW2 ,NW3 and two galaxy clusters CW1 and CW2 to explain the movement of Milky Way.
