The CDC revealed that one third of American citizens are losing productivity due to lack of sleep

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that American citizens are not getting enough sleep and are deeply stressed. The CDC used data of 2014 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) to understand the importance of sleep. The study conducted by (BRFSS) amalgamated information’s on 444000 adults from all over United States.

According to health experts, on average an adult must get at least 7 to 9 hours of daily sleep. Excessive and little sleep both can hamper health. According to the study, only 62.5% participants answered that they were receiving a significant amount of sleep. Sleeping disorders usually ends up in major healthy issues like obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular diseases. Also sleeping disorder is one of the supreme reasons of magnifying work and vehicle related accidents. Sleeping disorder decreases out intellectual ability of conducting certain tasks. Another interesting finding of the research was that while half of the black American had enough sleep, Caucasian and Hispanics were more deprived of sleep.  

According to the study, the southern part of the United States and the Appalachian state is getting the minimum amount of sleep compared with other states. Hawaii is leading the race as only 56.1% of the entire population from lack proper sleep. South Dakota performed really well in the study; around 71.6% of the entire population gets the sufficient amount of sleep.

However, The CDC concluded that on a comprehensive mote, the U.S citizens are not getting enough sleep. Because of the sleep deprivation, U.S citizens are performing poorly in the work and also suffering major health issues. The CDC suggested several life style changes to help the situation. According to CDC, specific bed time hours, elimination if gadgets from the bedroom, exercising on a regular basis and avoiding caffeine would help to heal the sleeping disorder. The CDC also announced that to increase the productivity during the day hour, one must make proper adjustments.

.Dr. Janet Kennedy, clinical psychologist and sleep expert explained in his statement “people don’t value sleep” anymore. They hold up the “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” philosophy” He explained that the need for productivity over rest. According to Dr. Kennedy, Sleep is the most sacrificed activity when it comes to work or social engagements. He further added that proper sleep is actually a tradeoff .If one isn’t sacrificing enough of his/her time on sleeping activity, then his/ her productivity will definitely decrease.
