Microsoft recently declared that future PC Owners would have to use Windows 10 instead of Windows 7 and Windows 8. Microsoft has announced to change their current policy of modification in their operating systems. After a certain years, older PCs were losing adaptability with new software from a very long time. This time Microsoft has ruled out any possibilities to make new generation hardware adaptable with older operating systems. Microsoft is reversing the game this time and older versions of operating system will definitely lack updates and probably will not function properly.

Microsoft published an announcement  in their official website stating that “Going forward, as new silicon generations are introduced, they will require the latest Windows platform at that time for support, Windows 10 will be the only supported Windows platform on Intel’s upcoming ‘Kaby Lake’ silicon, Qualcomm’s upcoming ‘8996’ silicon, and AMD’s upcoming ‘Bristol Ridge’ silicon.”According to Microsoft, they will be updating Windows 7 and 8 up to January 14,2020 and January 10,2023.However Updated version will still work only in the hardware’s those are concomitant with older operating systems.

Intel’s current sixth generation processor which is known as Skylake will be the first one from this new generation hardware. This new generation hardware will solely depend on Windows 10. However, Microsoft also announced that the company will be continuing supporting a list of allowed Skylake systems with Windows 7 or Windows 8 until July 17; 2017.With in this 18 month phase, employees will have to upgrade older operating systems to windows 10. According to Microsoft, Windows 7 or Windows 8 has specific expectations in regard to hardware power states and interrupt processing. Because of this twist, any altercation to the device drivers will be causing issues.

This specific policy change by Microsoft made their partner organization immensely satisfied as they won’t have to provide expensive software updates every few months to keep up with the race. Microsoft is taking “Windows 10” as the ultimate and final version of windows. Microsoft claims Windows 10 is now a service and not a product anymore.
